Global Maritime India Summit 2023 – Karnataka Maritime Board

Shri T K Ramachandran, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India visited the Karnataka Pavilion on the 3rd day of the GMIS 2023 and was felicitated by Shri Jayaram Raipura, Chief Executive Officer of Karnataka Maritime Board. Both dignitaries discussed the Maritime Scenario of Karnataka and the Secretary, MoPSW appreciated the state of Karnataka being one of the most proactive states in Sagarmala Scheme.

CEO, KMB, also held detailed discussions with Shri Vinay Prajapati, Director of Sagarmala Cell, and followed up on all pending projects of Karnataka with the Centre. Shri Prajapati assured full cooperation in clearing the projects and requested Karnataka to speedily complete all approved Sagarmala projects.

Further, several private investors and developers visited the Karnataka Pavilion and discussed the development opportunities showcased in the special mapbased pavilion. Shri Sethu Madhavan, Managing Director of Centre of Excellence in Maritime and Shipbuilding (CEMS), also had detailed discussions with Shri Raipura and assured all help for setting up Karnataka Maritime Training Institute in Mangalore. Similarly, Shri Arjun Chowgule, Executive Director of Chowgule Shipyards, visited Karnataka Pavilion and extended full support for setting up of the Training Institute.

Shri Jayaram Raipura, CEO, KMB also made visits to the pavilions of APM Terminals, Adani Ports, DP World etc. and invited them to invest in Karnataka. He also visited government agencies such as such Inland Water Authority of India IWAI), Director General of Lighthouse and Lightships (DGLL), Maritime Boards of other partner states, to understand and learn on the policy front as well as on ollaboration opportunities. The concluding day of the Global Maritime India Summit witnessed huge articipation from all the stakeholders of the Maritime fraternity. The 3-day vent proved to be extremely successful for the state of Karnataka and provided seful insights and collaboration opportunities through 57+ G2B meetings. The tate successfully showcased its maritime based offering to the private investors and developers.
